DIY – Jar candle lanterns

I created this DIY project to add a little bit of magic to a winter barbeque down the coast. I love having candles on a table setting, so I decided to use jars to save the flame from the sea breeze. These lanterns are super quick and easy to make. I used items that I had at home (the sand is for the lawn, fyi – in case you wonder why I have a bag of sand) which meant I didn’t have to spend a cent.

What you will need –

Glass jars

Glue gun

Glue the end of the string onto the top of the jar, just below where the lid closes.

Wrap the string around multiple times, adding more glue as needed.

Cut the string and glue the end.

Lightly pack the bottom ¼ of the jar with sand.

Add candle on top of the sand.

Light the candle & enjoy

Tip: Keep the jar lids for when not in use.
