If your fitness routine and diet is anything like mine is, you buy expensive workout outfits and tell yourself that your diet starts Monday, but it never happens. The couch and block of chocolate always persuades you to postpone just one more day? I feel you, I feel you and I’m here to help you out with a daily motivation. The motivation most definitely does not come from me, but from the definition of #fitspo, a mother of 2, weight watchers coach and the creative behind ‘Weight Watchers Mother Of 2’. RUN, don’t walk and follow @wwmotherof2 on Instagram for daily meal diaries, recipe suggestions and workout ideas. I am so inspired by her weight loss and healthy lifestyle story that I have asked Leah a few questions to share with my BLW readers.
TELL BLW READERS ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY
I never really had a weight issue before falling pregnant with my first son. During the pregnancy I actually gained 40kgs (yep, you did read correctly) We were living in Hawaii at the time, and while some came off naturally it wasn’t until about 9 months later that I realized I was probably still about 15kgs overweight. I joined weight watchers and lost the weight and hit goal, then about 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant with my second. I remember thinking “you know what to do now, you won’t gain 40kgs again”And I didn’t! I only gained 35Kg!! So 6 weeks after my second son was born, I went back to Weight Watchers. It took about 10 months to get back to my goal weight, losing 24kgs all up. It certainly wasn’t easy and there were times I wanted to give up, but I knew I had to get healthy for my kids, I wanted the old me back. The fun, full of life Leah. I didn’t want to struggle to find things to wear every day and wanted to be healthy and feel good. It’s still a struggle some days to choose good food but I know I feel better when I do.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE A BLOG & INSTAGRAM ?
I would go to my weekly meeting and weigh in and come out with all this motivation, but unfortunately this motivation only lasted a few days. So I decided to look at other ways to stay motivated. I remember being on Instagram and finding a hashtag #weightwatchers, soI clicked on it and found so many other members in the same boat. They were all trying to get healthy, showing there food ideas and inspiring stories. I followed a few, but then after a few weeks I really started having the urge to start my own. So @wwmotherof2 was born. I always wanted to stay anonymous when having my account. I joked with my husband “Ill show my face when I’m on the cover of the Weight Watchers magazine”. A year later I revealed my face as the cover star of the September 2015 issue.
The blog came a little later and was more for convenience for my followers who would ask for recipes. That way I could just send them to the blog and not have to write out the recipe hundreds of times.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR HIGHLIGHT SINCE JOINING WEIGHT WATCHERS?
100% being on the front of the Magazine! It was such an amazing experience!
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU BOTH CREATIVELY AND PERSONALLY ?
On a personal level my brother inspires me. He is such a happy, positive person and is always trying to better himself. He pushes himself to the next level. While he is totally satisfied with, himself, he never rests on it and is always taking on new challenges to better him and those around him. He has a wonderful work ethic too. Plus, we both share a love for food.
On a creative level I am inspired a lot by Hawaii (living there for 5 years will do that to you!) I love the colors of the sunsets, the crystal clear waters and the colorful flowers and trees. I love color!
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY?
I think just being a good human makes you beautiful. It’s that simple.
YOUR BEST BEAUTY TIP?
Water! Drink lots of it!
